HOR R3280 RailRoad LNER 4-6-2 ‘Golden Shuttle’ A4 Class

HOR R3280 RailRoad LNER 4-6-2 ‘Golden Shuttle’ A4 Class

Built for the LNER and outshopped from the Doncaster Works on the 4 September 1937, ‘Golden Shuttle’ was first seen resplendent in LNER Garter Blue livery with stainless steel trim along the edge of the valances and tender. The cabside number, which was ‘4496’ and the ‘LNER’ lettering on the tender were also produced in stainless steel. In 1947 the number was changed to ’8’ but after Nationalisation in 1948 ‘60000’ was added to the number making the locomotive 60008. Prior to this, in September 1945 and in honour of the Allied Supreme Commander during the Second World War, the locomotive was renamed, ‘Dwight D. Eisenhower’. By this time the valances had been removed and having been painted black in 1942, the locomotive was restored to the more familiar Garter Blue for the naming ceremony.

The Hornby RailRoad model fitted with sprung buffers is powered by a 5 Pole Skew Wound motor and has pickups on all drive wheels. The Hornby RailRoad ‘Golden Shuttle’ is DCC Ready.
