The genealogical tree of the LMS can be traced back to 1837 with the beginnings of the London & Birmingham Railway, the Grand Junction Railway and the Liverpool & Manchester Railway.
In 1846 all three companies were incorporated into the London & Western Railway.
Over the years the growth of independent railways in the Midlands and Scotland continued until under the Railways Act of 1921 some 120 independent companies were merged into the LMS (London, Midland and Scottish Railway).
This limited edition train pack, of which there are only 2000, is to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the beginnings of the LMS which at one time was the larger of the “Big Four”.
In celebration the LMS flagship locomotive, “Coronation” and matching coaches, all resplendent in the striking blue and silver livery of the “Coronation Scot” which was inaugurated in 1937, have been produced with each pack containing a numbered certificate.
